The word “pentimento” is an art history term that refers to an underlying image showing through a painting.

The phenomenon occurs when an artist paints over an original composition. Due to age or cleaning, the second layer of paint may become transparent, and the original work underneath is revealed.

Pentimento is also the name I use for my work. It’s a wonderful description of the spiritual healing process we crave—a process where we clear away the layers of hurt, pain and destructive thinking that each of us has accumulated through our years of living. It is these layers that have separated us from our soul’s intention.

Pentimento is about uncovering our soul’s original intention that lives inside each of us, and integrating it into our lives. I believe each of us has a beautiful soul – one that speaks the truth, inspires us to be the best version of ourselves, and is deeply connected to the divine.
